Identity Theft Protection

The Federal Trade Commission estimates that 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year. In fact, you or someone you know may have already experienced some form of identity theft. Two years after an identity theft occurs, 42% of victims are still dealing with the problem.

Hawaii State Federal Credit Union now offers protection from identity theft through our partners, ID Experts.

Protection
Provides members with automatic daily credit monitoring services through Experian and will keep you up-to-date on new scams and tips for your protection. You will have access to an online resource center for news, education and advisory services.

Recovery
The Recovery Service provides you with a Recovery Expert who will eliminate the damage caused by identity theft. Once you report the identity theft, a Recovery Expert is assigned to you within 24 business hours and they will manage your case from beginning to end. The Recovery Service will also reimburse you up to $20,000 in total reimbursements for lost income and expenses associated with the identity theft.

Credit Monitoring
Credit Monitoring includes all the benefits of Recovery Service and the monitoring of your credit report. If there is any activity on your credit report, you will be sent a notification and you may be able to prevent identity theft before it happens.

360 Degree Scan
360 Degree Scan is a service that continuously monitors and reviews thousands of public databases (DMV, social security, birthday changes, criminal websites, address changes, etc.) to search for any changes in your personal information and can identify someone using your name for fraudulent purposes. The 360 Degree Scan includes all the benefits of Recovery Service and Credit Monitoring.

ShareCheck and Platinum Checking Members (only)
All ShareCheck and Platinum Checking account holders who reside in the same household as the primary account holder receive FREE Restoration Service from ID Experts for as long as the account is open. Restoration Service provides you with a Restoration Expert who will assess damages and act on your behalf to restore your identity. The Restoration Expert will contact and work with creditors, banks, lending institutions, government agencies and debt collection agencies until your identity is restored. After the identity restoration is completed the case will be kept on file for 36 months in case of further fraud or litigation. If you are a ShareCheck or Platinum Checking account holder and would like to utilize this service, please contact a Hawaii State FCU Representative for assistance.

*The Recovery Service Family Plan protects the accountholder and family members (family members include a spouse/partner and dependents under the age of 25 living at the same permanent address). Credit Monitoring will be available for two adults (within the description of "family" as stated above) under the Credit Monitoring Family Plan.

**The 360 Degree Scan is an additional service that constantly reviews thousands of public databases for changes in personal data (DMV, social security, criminal web sites, national change of address, etc). If personal data is detected as being changed or used fraudulently, then an alert is sent.
